Hilary Elliott
Subject Lead - Science
Hilary works across WMAT as Director for Science, bringing together the best of everything we do to ensure our students have the very best experience during their science journey with us.
Hilary studied for a BSc in Biochemical Sciences and an MSc in Organometallic Chemistry at University College Cork, Ireland, before completing her PhD in Analytical Chemistry jointly at the University of Edinburgh and Imperial College London. Soon after, she became one of the first chemists appointed to the UK’s National Measurement Institute, the National Physical Laboratory, where she held roles including Group Leader, Business Leader, and Strategy Manager, collaborating with partners on a variety of national and international projects. One of her most rewarding achievements was leading the design and launch of the UK’s Centre for Carbon Measurement, which focuses on strategies to mitigate climate change.
Since turning her focus to teaching, Hilary has worked in a number of schools and is happiest in the classroom, working with students. She feels fortunate to now serve as Director for Science across WMAT, bringing together the very best of practice to ensure that every student has an outstanding science learning experience.
