Steve held this role at Barfield for twelve years, providing strategic leadership for the school’s IT systems and digital development. He led the school’s response to online learning during the COVID pandemic, ensuring that staff and students were able to move quickly and confidently to remote education. This included strengthening infrastructure, supporting staff training, and maintaining secure and reliable access to digital platforms.

In 2016, Steve oversaw the school’s transition to becoming a Google school. He led the introduction of Google Workspace across the organisation, embedding cloud-based systems into teaching, learning and administration, and helping to develop a more connected and collaborative digital environment.

Steve is a Design and Technology teacher by profession. He became Head of Design and Technology at Barfield in 2006 and held the role for eighteen years. His background in technology education has strongly informed his approach to IT leadership, combining practical classroom experience with a clear focus on innovation, reliability and user support.
